Brake Disc

Brake Disc

The brake disc (or rotor) is the rotating part of a wheel's disc brake assembly, it works alongside the brake pads to slow the car down or to bring the vehicle to a stop as safely as possible. An advantage of discs is that they can dissipate heat more quickly than drums so there is less risk of overheating.

Attention

When you apply the brakes in your car it doesn’t just come to a stop on its own. Instead Over period of time the brake discs will start to wear, affecting the overall performance of the braking system which can make driving particularly dangerous. In wet, wintery conditions especially it takes longer to stop in the first place, so it’s vital that the brake disc on all four wheels is checked regularly for signs of wear or damage.
